INTERACT partner UNIS is planning for a Arctic safety pilot course that will run 1-8th of October 2018 in Svalbard and there are still places available.

The objective of the course is to enable the participants to identify and limit the risks of activities carried out at a research station.  The ambition is also to give the participants the necessary knowledge and tools to describe actions that are needed to prevent or restrict the impact of incidents and accidents associated with the station’s activities.

The course is primarily aimed at persons who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of a research station. The course may also be relevant to persons who are responsible for implementing major field activities. It is expected; that participants have knowledge of Arctic conditions and have knowledge of the general operation of a research station or for the implementation of major field activities. The majority of training  and lectures will take place in the field. For the course to be a success we are dependent on your active participation.

The course has an actual cost of approximately 25 000 NOK. Since this is a pilot course you will only have to cover your own travel expenses to and from Svalbard.

If you are interested, please reply to Ann Christin Auestad by the 30th of July 2018. (Deadline prolonged). You will receive confirmation regarding the course during august 2018.
