D.Sc., a Professor of Biology and UNESCO Chair for the Scientific and Educational Centre "Environmental Dynamics and Global Climate Change" at the Yugra State University, coordinates research and field operations at the Mukhrino Field Station. Her scientific interests include research on biodiversity, spatial structure, functioning and transformation of vegetation and organic matter in wetland ecosystems. Dr. Lapshina’s research is directed at understanding effect of climate change on the pristine peatland ecosystems and actual carbon balance of the permafrost boundary zone in Western Siberia. She engages undergraduate and graduate students in research of wetlands, and develops vigorous partnerships and collaborative initiatives.
